I pray everyone withstood the sandblasting we received yesterday and emerged in one piece. We had a few who were either slightly negatively affected or had family/friends in harm’s way. However, thank the Lord that all seem to be safe and sound.
Our LifePoint Shepherding Ministry is ready to begin:
A special thank you to Carl and Penny Allen (and all who assisted them) last Sunday for making our Shepherd Ministry training come off so well. We had great attendance, a great meal, and a great time discussing what a shepherding ministry is and how critical it is to a flock of believers.
We are proposing the following for our initial shepherds in our LifePoint Shepherding Ministry:
Terry & Linda Barger, David & Deborah Bingham, Bob & Brenda Casburn, Tom & Vicki Geis, Rob & Kari Chynoweth, Pete & Cheryle Conser, Dennis & Trish Davis, Greg & Julie Dellinger, Justin & Brooke Holmes, Jerry & Nan Hymer, Robert & Pam Jackson, Mike & Delana Jordan, Ray & Cindy Lewis, Chuck & Beth McDowell, Steve & Sue Rath, Shelby & Deb (Baker) Ray, Richard & DeeDee Russell, Quentin & Bobbie Williams
We plan to have a “commissioning time” for these leaders during one of our services very soon. Please be praying for them as they begin this new journey. In a few weeks, we will also release who will make up the flocks of each of these shepherd couples. This ministry is going to be a huge enhancement for our church.
Our very own Shelly Filkins is now part of a ministry called Reaching Souls International. RS Int’l “does it right” by training native citizens of other nations how to reach their own population. Using citizens of a country to reach their fellow countrymen is always more effective and efficient than training foreigners to do the same thing.
This is a great opportunity for LifePoint to invest in reaching people in other parts of the world who we will likely never meet until we get to heaven. Tomorrow, Shelly will be sharing briefly during our service about RS International and how each of us can become a small part of a huge effort in reaching people for Christ around the globe. Thank you Shelly for your heart to “win your world.”
Two new members to our Executive Team:
We are excited about adding Ike Buress and Chuck McDowell to our Executive Team. Now that they have shared a bit about their testimonies, we want to officially recognize them as members of the LifePoint ET. So, on March 30, right before we begin the Pastor’s Class, we will have a short business meeting to vote to approve Ike and Chuck. If you have any questions you would like to ask them personally, feel free to contact them at church.
Tomorrow at LifePoint:
• Pastor’s Class, 10:00 am – We will continue part 5 of our Biblical Types series as we learn how the cross of Christ was no afterthought with God but was previewed for us in 2000 BC! Abraham’s offering of Isaac is an incredible picture of what our heavenly Father would do for all of us some 2000 years later. Come learn the details of this amazing biblical lesson.
• Worship/preaching Service, 11:00 am – In a follow-up to our “Winning Our World” message series, we will begin a three-week series entitled, “Why Church?” Is the modern church with its mega classifications, its emphasis on “entertainment value,” and its “mass appeal” really what Jesus had in mind when He said, “Upon this rock I’ll build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it?" This message series will help to separate the Hollywood “glitz & glamor” of the modern church from the “grit and glory” of the true purpose of the church. This series will be a great segway from the series we just completed and will explain how the “biblical” church of Jesus plays “the” critical role in winning our world.
Coming in April:
I’m excited about the message series I’m presently working on that will begin on April 6 and lead us right into April 20 – Resurrection Sunday! This series will discuss the incredible Shroud of Turin and the most recent discoveries surrounding it. Could it be that the “actual” burial shroud used to cover the body of Jesus in the tomb still exists? Is the image superimposed on that ancient cloth the world’s first “selfie"? If so, what are its implications for all of us? You’re going to love this 3-week series that will take us into Jesus’ tomb and then outside into resurrection life and what that means for us today. Do whatever you can to organize your schedule so you won’t miss a single message of this series. And, invite family and friends to come hear this amazing story!
Lastly, we are in need of volunteers:
• Children's Ministry – All positions available: teachers, assistants, and nursery workers. Please sign up in the lobby at the Children's check-in table. If you have any questions, you can also contact Debbie Walters or Beth McDowell. This ministry is doing amazing things for kids!
• Greeters' Ministry – If you would be willing to serve in this ministry, please contact Gary Davis or Paul Kozlovsky . As the first ones people see when they come to LifePoint, that first interaction can leave a lasting impression that can help be transformational in a person's life. It is such an important position.
Thank you for prayerfully considering to serve. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
