I want to express a special thank you to Gary Davis and the welcome team for helping to navigate us through last Sunday’s confusion at UCO. Also, I so appreciate the willingness of our hospitality team to “roll with it” and for working so hard to move all the breakfast snacks to the first floor. I know all the changes were inconvenient, but because of the Oklahoma Coaches Association conference that was held in the Nigh Bldg. last Sunday, we really didn’t have a choice. But even though last Sunday was tough, the truth is, UCO has been a great host over the 21 months we’ve been meeting there, and the leadership of the Nigh Bldg. has tried hard to keep the activities that take place there from encroaching on our Sunday activities. In fact, there have actually been very few Sundays when we’ve had to make the adjustments we had to make last Sunday. So, thank you to everyone for being flexible and making things work in a difficult situation. Hopefully, tomorrow everything will be back to normal.

Women’s Ministry Fall Bible Study Kickoff

Our LBC Women’s Ministry held their fall Bible study kickoff Saturday, where they showcased the new studies beginning this fall. I hear the event went well and came off in our new facility without a hitch. The ladies got a sneak preview of the different classes they will be able to choose from for this fall.

Thank you to everyone who made the event such a great success! We are so thankful for the great things this ministry is accomplishing in our church. Keep up the good work!

Our LifePoint ladies and their guests met for our annual Kick-off event for the coming year’s Bible studies on Saturday at our new church building!!! What a wonderful time we had fellowshipping and sharing information about the Bible studies to be offered over the coming fall and spring! The 60 ladies who attended were able to begin our signup for the classes, which will continue for the next 4 Sundays in the hospitality area at UCO. We welcome friends and family of our LifePoint ladies to join us. There is a flat fee of $20 to cover supplies, regardless of the study to be attended. Come join us and connect with other women in one or more of our stimulating and welcoming Bible studies. For any questions, call/text Carreybeth Lehew, Penny Allen, or Pam Fisher.

Fundraiser next Sunday, Aug 9

Don’t forget that we will have our special construction offering next Sunday, Aug 9. We need to raise the funds to enlarge the auditorium in our new facility to make it usable for our services. I hope all of us have taken this opportunity seriously and have been seriously praying about what God wants each of us to give.

We have already had approximately $150,000 given, so we’re off to a great start. Rough estimates indicate that the construction costs will be around $700,000 – $800,000, so obviously, we need to raise as much as possible.

Why we aren’t occupying our new facility immediately

We have been asked numerous times why we aren’t immediately occupying our new facility. We know everyone is excited about our new facility and is anxious to move into it; however, there are several reasons why we can’t. Although we have previously tried to explain why, I would like to attempt to take another stab at it.

First, the construction in the auditorium will be extensive. The entire east wall will be removed, along with a large section of the roof. This is necessary to make room for a stage and two side rooms. This will render that whole section of the facility unusable for several months, essentially eliminating the use of half of the entire facility. Since the whole facility is approximately 10,000 sq. ft. presently, half of that space is simply not enough room for us to do what we do each Sunday.

Second, contractors will not allow access to the work area while construction is ongoing. The likelihood of someone getting hurt causes the liability to be too great. Our facility will essentially become a hard hat area for the months it is under construction. We simply cannot adequately police that area while construction is ongoing, and Rob Chynoweth tells us the contractors will not allow us to occupy the building while they’re doing the construction. It places too much liability onto them.

Third, the logistics of attempting to navigate the mess the construction will create each week (even with efforts to minimize it) will make using the facility basically impossible. We cannot clean it adequately enough every week to make it useable for services. We won’t want to be tracking the construction dust throughout the rest of the facility. If you have ever done any major renovations to your home, you know how difficult this is for a single family to deal with. Just imagine how difficult/impossible it would be for 200+ people to be trying to use a facility with that kind of construction going on. It would be a nightmare. Believe me, the E.T. has thoroughly worked through the challenges the construction will pose for us.

Thankfully, we have the UCO facility to use, enabling construction to move forward on our new facility as rapidly as possible. What we really need to be praying for is that construction, once it begins, will go quickly without any major problems so we can move into our new facility as soon as is possible. Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor's/BRR Class, 10 am - tomorrow we will finish lesson 5 (“What Jesus looked like at age 95”) of our verse-by-verse study of Revelation. Then, we will begin lesson 6: “God’s outline for the Book of Revelation.” Instead of coming up with our own workable outline for Revelation, God has already given us one. By following this outline, Revelation makes perfect sense. Come join us in this exciting journey through one of the most intriguing books in the Bible.
Worship/Preaching Service, 11 am - Are you as flabbergasted as I am about how those who profess to be Christians seem to be jettisoning core biblical doctrines at breakneck speed these days? Why is this happening? Although numerous causes are no doubt contributing to the collapse, recent studies examining what preachers/pastors believe reveal the real culprit – the preacher/pastor. Sadly, a large percentage of our church leaders no longer believe the Bible. Although this is tragic beyond belief, it is a subject we must discuss. Therefore, tomorrow I’ll be preaching about blind shepherds who are leading even blinder sheep. This is why the American church is stumbling off into the ditch.
