Finally – August 2026 is no more!!  Surely cooler weather is near.  It’s much like the little boy who wanted a pony for his birthday but did not receive it.  Sadly, he walked out to the barn.  When his dad went out to see how he was fairing, the little boy was furiously digging in the hay and manure of one of the barn stalls.  The dad asked, “What are you doing?”  To which his son replied, “With this much horse manure in this stall, there’s gotta be a pony in here somewhere!”

So, I say, “With a summer this hot, there’s got to be cooler weather somewhere!

An incredible Baptism service last Sunday

We had a great baptism service last Sunday after church. Thank you to all who attended, and to Dennis and Trish Davis for helping us secure their HOA swimming pool.  It was such a blessing to see some make their public profession of faith in Jesus and for others to recommit themselves to Jesus.  If you haven’t been scripturally baptized, you need to plan on doing so at our next baptismal service.

Boston/Plymouth Tour postponed - again

Unfortunately, since we are only 4 weeks away from our Oct 5-9 tour of Plymouth/Boston and do not have enough participants to make it feasible, we’re going to have to postpone the tour once again.  I apologize to those of you who are really wanting to go, but costs require at least 35 participants to make it financially feasible.  Maybe we can pull a tour together next spring – or figure out how to make a tour for a smaller group doable.  I’m open to ideas.

Happy Labor Day

Since Monday is Labor Day, we’ll likely have several of our folks absent tomorrow as they take advantage of the last “summer fling” before fall begins.  Although they will surely be missed, let’s be praying that they have a safe and relaxing time away and a safe journey back home to us.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Speaking of Labor Day, tomorrow’s message will investigate the subject of work/labor from God’s perspective.  I believe it will be beneficial to us.  Here’s how tomorrow will look at LifePoint:

• Pastor's/BRR Class, 10 am - will continue our verse-by-verse study of the Book of Revelation.  We are presently studying lesson 8: “The Church Age – Pergamum & Thyatira.”  These initial letters to the seven churches of Asia have solid doctrinal teaching for us and I believe hold a special prophetic significance as they also seem to represent certain periods of time in the Church Age from Pentecost to the Rapture.  Come join us.
  
  
• Worship/Preaching Service, 11 am - even though we have a couple more messages remaining in our “What happened to the church’s biblical worldview” message series, tomorrow we’ll take a step away to deal with an important subject – work/labor.  As I said, Monday is officially Labor Day.  And even though this holiday has no real spiritual significance (other than taking a day off to rest and recharge – which can be a spiritual exercise itself), tomorrow’s message will seek to take advantage of the moment by discussing the subject of “work” through Scriptural lenses to show how God both designed work for our benefit and how it is a critical part of fulfilling His mission for us on this earth.  It’ll be an interesting and helpful study of an often overlooked, but critical subject.  As always, if you missed or need to review a previous message, you can always do so on our website at Lbcok.com.
