Hello LifePoint, I want to thank everyone who either asked a question or made a statement during our town hall meeting last Sunday. I thought the meeting went well. And although there seemed to be some level of concern about the finance/payoff dimensions of the land purchase, there appeared to be a general agreement to move forward with the purchase of the land on N. Kelly & Coffee Creek. Vote scheduled for July 27 postponed However, because of the concerns over the financial side of the question, the Executive Team would like to postpone the vote scheduled for tomorrow morning, July 27. Their request is that, instead, we take the advice of one of our members who suggested last week that we see how much our congregation can commit toward a special offering to help with the down payment. As we have discussed previously, a certain portion of our present bank account will be dedicated to the down payment, but we will need more to reduce the amount that will have to be financed by a loan. Special offering We realize that many of you may not be able to give beyond what you are presently giving. So, we do not want anyone to feel pressured to give to the point of creating a financial hardship for themselves. However, some may be able to make a “significant” additional gift toward the down payment. Therefore, we are only asking for those who feel they can make that offering to let us know by filling out a commitment card. This will enable the ET to see how much will have to be borrowed to make the purchase. (As a side note: we will certainly have to come back to you for a long-term financial commitment once we pay off the land and prepare to secure financing for a building.) Commitment (index) cards will be available at the welcome center tomorrow morning. If you feel you can give a special offering toward the down payment, please take a card and prayerfully write down the amount you plan to give. Please include your name. Although you do not have to sign the card, it would be extremely helpful if you are willing to do so. That way, we can reach out to you if necessary. We will need all the cards returned by no later than the end of service, August 3. The special offering is tentatively scheduled for the week of Aug 4-10. Other land options? Some have asked if we remain open to other locations if they become available. Of course, we are. We want the best for LifePoint, and if God makes an even better place than the N. Kelly property available at a price we can afford, we are more than willing to move that direction. But, after many months of searching for and looking at numerous pieces of property, the N. Kelly location seems to be the best fit for us. The time to decide on that property is running out. The owners of the N. Kelly property have been extremely helpful to and patient with us, but we owe it to them to let them know soon if we intend to purchase their property. If the congregation decides not to purchase the N. Kelly property, we will continue our search for a suitable location. One thing I am certain of: God has a perfect plan for us. - Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10:00 am – we will continue our final lesson in our Biblical Types series by discussing the intriguing and amazing ark of the covenant. Does the ark have something to teach those of us living in the New Testament era? The answer is a resounding “Yes”! Come learn what that is.
- Worship/Preaching service, 11:00 am – we will continue our series, “What the Declaration declares,” with part 3 as we begin to break down the specific principles of governance listed by the Framers in the Declaration that come straight from Scripture. This message series is a must if we are going to understand the biblical roots of our free Republic.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, |
