11/8/2025 Message

Good Saturday afternoon gang,

This week, New Yorkers took a historic step by electing as their new mayor, Zohran Mamdani, a man who, in 2020 called himself a “BMW Bolshevik.”  Of all the groups Mamdani could have associated himself with, there is likely none more un-American than the Bolsheviks.

Who were the Bolsheviks?  They were the radical faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party, led by Vladimir Lenin, that seized power in the 1917 Russian Revolution and later became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.  Once Lenin and his Bolsheviks took over, they began a reign of terror, removing all adversaries and executing as many as 1.3 million Russians.

Once Lenin’s reign of terror ended with his death in 1924, a struggle over who would take his place ensued with Joseph Stalin ending up on top.  Stalin immediately proclaimed himself dictator of Russia and plunged that region into even greater darkness than Lenin had.  Stalin and his communist thugs launched into a horrific purge where as many as 6 million Russians were executed outright, while another 50 million or so died in forced labor camps, from “deportations,” forced famines, and massacres.  So much for the revolution “of the people!”

Like a chameleon, Zohran Mamdani has changed his stripes (as all Communists do) and rather than continuing to call himself a BMW Bolshevik, has invented a “newer, kinder, & less threatening” title for himself – “Democratic Socialist,” a term intended to deceive vastly uneducated Americans who don’t know the difference between a republic and a democracy, between capitalism and socialism/communism – nor do they know about much of anything else that really matters.  The new Democratic Socialist Mamdani boasts that he will target “whiter” neighborhoods with higher taxes, provide free public transit, establish government-owned and operated grocery stores, seize personal property, and freeze/reduce rent – just for starters. It would appear Mamdani’s Democratic Socialism is closer to Bolshevism than New Yorkers were aware.

Why do I begin this week’s email with the above?

This Tuesday, Nov 11, is Veterans’ Day.  Of course, Veterans’ Day is an official federal holiday set aside to honor all who have served these United States by serving in one of the branches of our military.  I wonder if most of the men and women we will honor on Tuesday served so we could elect a Bolshevik as mayor of our largest city?  I would think probably not.

However, sadly, Mamdani is only one of many who have risen to the top levels of government in the U.S. – both at state and federal levels.  People like Gavin Newsome, Tim Walz, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Bernie Sanders, Adam Schiff, etc. come to mind.

This is why we must understand our own American history and the history of “isms” such as socialism/communism, or we are destined to suffer the same sad fate of millions who live in the darkness of totalitarian regimes across the globe.

Sadly, not only is the average American completely uninformed about this insidious virus infecting our republic, Christians are equally uninformed.  And of course, God declared to Hosea that “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.” (Hos 4:6).  It is therefore imperative that we have a good biblical worldview so we can know God’s mind on all issues – including things like socialism and communism.

So, tomorrow I will begin a sermon on the biblical perspective on socialism and communism (it will likely be a multipart sermon).  Although it might seem the Bible is silent on such things, I believe it provides sufficient truth to help us deal with every area of life – including what we should believe about things like socialism and communism.  I think this message is a “must hear” for every Christ follower living in America – or anywhere else for that matter.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

·        Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10:00 am – we will continue our series, “Truths on truth,” with lesson 4, “If God is all-loving and all powerful, why does He allow bad things to happen?”  You won’t want to miss this important discussion.

·        Worship/Preaching Service, 11:00 am – I will begin the message I have been discussing in this email, “Does the Bible address things like Socialism/Communism?”

Budget Presentation for 2026 LifePoint Budget

Even though we’re a few weeks out, we will have our annual budget proposal for the new 2026 church budget on Dec 7 at 10:00 am during the Pastor’s/BRR Class time.  More info to follow.
