6/13/2026 Message

I’m writing this from Greenwood, SC, where I’ll be doing the BRR presentation this weekend. I did the presentation on Wednesday night in Knoxville, TN, as I passed through there, and it went very well. I would certainly appreciate your prayers that God will use the presentation this Sunday to inspire and stir up the congregation here in SC.

But even though I’ll be in SC this Sunday, we have videoed the Pastor’s Class and the sermon, so it’ll almost be like I’m there at LifePoint this Sunday! However, be aware that I have instructed Pam to check the roll, and she promises to report the name of every person who skips out just because I am gone!  Seriously, this Sunday at LifePoint will be just as good as always because Val and Zak have worked hard to edit and perfect the videos for the class and the worship service. The worship time will be great as well because you will have the opportunity to worship along with two live video recordings of Shane & Shane – so the worship leaders will actually sing on pitch this Sunday for a change.

Update on the Event Center

We continue to work through the repairs revealed by the inspection of the Event Center. Things are progressing quite well, and it does appear that our church will not be out of pocket for the big-ticket items. As with the purchase of any 10-yr old facility, there will be numerous smaller issues that we’ll have to take care of, but it does appear that those will not prevent us from moving forward to the closing in early July.

One of the largest items needing repair is the roof. After it was inspected by the insurance company, they agreed that it is a total loss and they have agreed to replace it – minus the deductible that the owners will have to pay. We are still having the HVAC units that are not working checked out and if there are no major issues there, we think we’ll be ready to sign on the dotted line very soon!

Fundraising for the Event Center purchase

During our Town Hall meeting last Sunday (thank you Gary Davis for doing such a superb job explaining the whole thing), several questions were asked about raising money for the expansion of the auditorium.

As most of you know, there is no secret formula as to how to do something as large as purchasing a new facility. This is because every situation is unique. Having led two other churches through a total relocation that included constructing complete facilities, I can tell you that each of those projects presented their own set of challenges. It may encourage you to know that in each of those projects, we had very successful fundraising efforts and were able to build everything we had planned. But trust me, each one of those projects was very different, requiring different approaches.

The reason we have not started an official fundraising effort in earnest yet (even though some have been giving toward a new facility over the past few months) is because we were not certain that we were even going to be able to purchase the Event Center. For weeks, it appeared that we would not be able to secure the financing we need. Then, when the owners agreed to owner finance their part, we had to secure approval from the bank for the remaining balance and workout the process – which became quite tedious at times. Because of this, it simply did not make sense to the ET to start raising money until we were certain we would actually be able to purchase the property.

And even though we are almost there (likely within a week or so), as I said earlier, the purchase is not a definite “go” yet. Even so, we have gone ahead and authorized several expenditures (such as inspections, title company work, survey, etc.) since those tasks must be accomplished now if we are to close in early July. Even though that is taking a bit of a chance with those monies, we really have no other choice. However, if all goes well as we expect it to, those expenditures will have to be made anyway.

Now, that brings me to the actual funds we need to raise. From the initial drawings and estimates our architect has given us, it appears that the auditorium expansion will cost approx. $750,000 – $800,000. As Gary explained last Sunday, if we must use it, we do have some monies available in our bank account right now to get the construction started. However, it would be far better if we could raise the entire amount without having to dip into those funds. So, we need to raise approx. $800,000 as soon as possible. That will be no easy feat, but I believe it is doable.

But if we’re going to get there, it will require each of us to dig deeply. That’s why we all need to begin praying right now about what God wants us to give toward this project. Although we have not yet set a date for a special offering, we need to be prepared to give that offering soon. Obviously, you do not have to wait for that special offering date to give. If you have already prayed through this and are certain that you know what God wants you to do, you can make that offering anytime. If you do, just make certain that you clearly designate your offering for the building project. We will be announcing in the next few weeks when our first special offering will be taken. Pray, pray, pray.

Primary elections are this Tuesday, Jun 16

This coming Tuesday, Jun 16, we have the opportunity and responsibility to vote for the candidates we think will best represent us in our state government. You should have received an email from me this week with Charlie’s (& Dan’s) Picks. If you did not receive them, you can click here and check them out. Of course, our church does not “officially” endorse candidates, but Charlie and I have made recommendations you can consider.

Also, it is my opinion that State Question 832 would be terrible for OK. Although you are obviously free to vote any way you choose, I am encouraging everyone to vote “NO” on state question 832. If you want to read a very good article explaining why SQ 832 is a bad deal for OK, go to our church website at Lbcok.com.

This Sunday at LifePoint

  • BRR/Pastor's Class, 10 am - we will continue our verse-by-verse study of Revelation by finishing part 2 and beginning part 3: “Revelation – not Revelations.” Does it really matter if you get the title of this important book correct? Is it really that big of a deal? Come find out.

  • Worship/Preaching Service, 11 am -  The worship this Sunday will be amazing, and I will finish the “Going, going, gone?” message with part 2: “The Cure.” Come hear the second part of this timely message. If you missed part 1, “The Crisis,” you can click here to review.

Don’t forget, Pam will be taking roll this Sunday, so I’ll know who’s naughty and nice! ?

See you next Sunday,

Dan Fisher
