11/30/2024 Message

Good afternoon LifePoint family,

I hope everyone had a happy and blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends this past Thursday. For those who traveled to be with family and are still away, we pray your time is blessed and that you have a safe journey home.

Can you believe it? Tomorrow is the first day of December! The Christmas season is here again! What a great time of the year to celebrate God’s greatest gift to man – Jesus, our redemption. And what a great time for celebration and traditions that make this season so memorable for all of us. Our “Christmas Choir” has prepared several Christmas carols/hymns for us and they will perform their first tomorrow. Thank you, Vernon and singers, for putting forth the effort to make this happen.

Every five years or so, I feel the need to revisit a series of messages that I believe helps us keep our priorities straight in a season that can be a bit chaotic and even difficult at times. So tomorrow, I will begin a message series entitled, “Finding ‘Holy Days’ in the Holidays - removing the hassle & hurry from the hustle & bustle.” This series will include the following messages:

  • Dec 1 – Tackling the Tyranny of the Urgent
  • Dec 8 – Making and Savoring Precious Memories
  • Dec 15 – Keeping the in-laws from becoming Christmas outlaws
  • Dec 22 – Silencing the “Christmas is a pagan holiday” crowd
  • Dec 29 - Balancing pre-Christmas buildup with post New Year’s letdown

Other things to remember:
  • Tomorrow’s Pastor’s Class, 10:00am – We will be finishing our series, “The Final Judgment & The Lake of Fire” with the final lesson: “How will heaven be heaven if loved ones or friends don’t make it?” This is an oft asked and troubling question. Is there a scriptural answer? After dealing with this critical question, we’ll have Q&A for the time remaining.

  • Dec 8, 10am - Annual Church Budget Presentation. If you would like a copy of the proposed 2025 budget, see or email Gary Davis Gary@Lbcok.com.

  • Dec 15 - A baby shower table will be set up in the church lobby for Jake and Katie Johnson who are expecting their first child. You can be a blessing to this young family by bringing a gift and leaving it at the table. The Johnsons are having a girl named Eloise Grace Johnson. Congrats Jake & Katie!

  • A note from the Women’s Ministry:
We pray you had a wonderful Thanksgiving an opportunity to use the Taste of the Holidays cookbook. We will be in the lobby again this Sunday and will have plenty for you to purchase. The cost is $15/book.

Also, we were able to get all the problems corrected and rebound, so if you purchased one last week, please stop by and we will exchange them for the corrected one. Please forgive us for these blunders. They were definitely not intended. Obviously, we will look more carefully with more eyes next time. Unfortunately this time, we were trying to get them out quickly, so you would have them before Thanksgiving.

We love you all and hope you will cherish this cookbook as part of our new beginnings. It’s the first edition of what we hope becomes a long time tradition. -Women’s Ministry Team

As always, I look forward to worshipping with you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher
