Truths on Truth (Part 4): Why does God allow bad things to happen?
If God is all-loving and all-powerful, why does He allow bad things to happen?
Pastor Dan Fisher discusses the theological perspective on why an all-loving, all-powerful God allows suffering and evil, emphasizing the purpose of life, the necessity of trials for spiritual growth, and the greater good that can arise from suffering. The ultimate purpose of life is to know God and make Him known to others. Experiencing pain is essential for knowing and growing in God. Obstacles and problems are necessary for personal growth and spiritual maturity. Certain virtues can only be cultivated through challenges and suffering. Courage requires danger, perseverance needs obstacles, and compassion arises from suffering. Faith is strengthened through need and adversity. Believers throughout history have faced difficulties and persecution. Difficulties in life can enhance our capacity to enjoy God both now and in eternity. Suffering can lead to greater good, even if it is not immediately apparent. Human beings are finite, while God is infinite, leading to a lack of understanding of all events. God knows the end from the beginning, which humans cannot comprehend. The ripple effect of events can have far-reaching consequences that are beyond human foresight.
