Even though every Sunday is Resurrection Sunday, tomorrow is our annual “special” observance of Christ’s resurrection and victory over death. We will alter our normal schedule with only one service at 10:30am – 12:15pm. We’ll enjoy a great time of worship and a wonderful observance of the Lord’s Supper.

(*A special word about the Lord’s Supper: Scripture teaches that only born-again believers who are walking in obedience to the Lord should participate in the memorial we call the Lord’s Supper. Even if you are confident of your salvation, it’s still always good to do a little “spiritual house cleaning” before participating in this sacred memorial celebration. If you have younger children who want to participate, be sure they have made a personal commitment to Jesus and that they understand what the Lord’s Supper is about.)

Additionally, I will be preaching a strong, apologetic message about the proofs of the claims of Christ – adding to the messages I preached last April that included a two-part exhaustive discussion of the amazing Shroud of Turin – the burial cloth of Jesus (Apr 13) and “The 5 E’s of the Resurrection” (Apr 20). If you did not get to hear those messages, if you would like to re-listen to them, and/or send them to someone who needs to hear them, you can find them on our website by clicking here.

Concerning tomorrow’s sermon, if you have any family or friends who are wavering between faith and unbelief, they need to hear the message, so do everything you can to get them there.

Resurrection morning breakfast snacks & fellowship

As I have mentioned the past couple of weeks, Beth and her team are preparing a wonderful spread of breakfast snacks/treats for tomorrow. They will begin serving at 9:30am, so come to church early and dig in! Unfortunately, so far, we’re coming up empty. As I have told you before, every bank we’ve talked with only wants to loan 50% of what we need, or they have insisted on guarantors for the loan - requirements that are unacceptable. We have two more banks we hope to hear from early next week, and obviously, we’re hoping one of them will make a reasonable offer. If not, the Executive Team is going back to the drawing board to reassess our strategy. Be praying that God gives us clarity as we near the end of this difficult process.

Auction for a week in Pagosa Springs, CO

Time is running out on a great opportunity to bid on a 7-day condominium stay in Pagosa Springs, CO, for the week of Mar 21-28! A generous couple in our church is offering this wonderful chance to spend a week in beautiful Colorado, and it will go to the highest bidder, with the proceeds going to the LifePoint Building Fund. If you would like to take advantage of this great week in Pagosa Springs, jump on our church website and place a bid. Who knows? You may walk away the winner! As most of you know, Crossroads is a ministry LifePoint supports monthly. Their work is so important and every baby they save is a miracle in and of itself. In the process, they often get to lead those involved to saving faith in Jesus. This year’s fundraiser will be on April 9 at 6:30pm-8:30pm and will be held at The Dominion House, 818 N Oak St, Guthrie. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Everett Piper. If you would like to participate, see Amy Bachelor for more details. Come join us!

Worship/Preaching Service, 11am – we will continue our “Saved” message series and begin our investigation of whether those in hell will experience “eternal conscious torment” or be “annihilated” and cease to exist for all eternity. With Kirk Cameron’s announcement that he has become a believer in “annihilation,” the internet has gone crazy. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life.”

I would like to thank the person who asked that very valid question about Samson (not my so-called friend who made fun of me because I could not get the Elisha story right). The question caused me to dig a little deeper and correct the record. It simply reminds me that, when handling Scripture, we need to be extremely careful with the text.

There, now I can rest easier tonight!
Dan Fisher

Here are the costs based upon a group of 35 (if we do not have 35 going, the travel cost while we’re there will increase):

Room, travel (in Plymouth & Boston), & tickets to sites $900.00 per person
Estimated food cost ……………….................................. $250.00 per person
Total cost …………..……………………………...….. $1,150.00 per person

This price does not include round-trip travel to Boston.

If enough are interested, a nonrefundable deposit of $400 will be due sometime in late March, and we will have a formal registration page available.

If you are “truly” interested, I need you to contact asap so we can know if we have a large enough group to start booking arrangements. Please email me to let me know (even if you have previously voiced an interest). I need to hear from you by no later than Mar 14. I will then send out the word whether the trip makes or not by Mar 15.

Car needed for LifeBody Ministry

As you heard last week, our LifeBody Ministry is searching for a dependable car for a family in our church. A few responded last Sunday, and we’re considering their offers. While we’re doing so, if you have a car you would like to donate or sell, or you know someone who does, please let us know asap.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10 am – I can’t say how many times I’ve heard someone say about some passage of Scripture, “Well, that’s how I interpret it.” But what if their interpretational methods are flawed and their “interpretation” is wrong? Well, tomorrow we will begin a new series, entitled “Getting Scripture Right,” that will help us deal with this problem. Unfortunately, I am constantly hearing or encountering misinterpretations of Scripture. With the advent of the internet, false teaching (nefarious or not) has reached epidemic proportions today. This is incredibly problematic since an incorrect understanding of one passage of Scripture or what Scripture teaches about a particular subject can greatly impact the way we read the rest of the Bible. An incorrect understanding of Scripture will then eventually damage our faith walk. I’m convinced that much of the time, these “incorrect interpretations” are unintentional and are the result of either a poor understanding of the Bible, incorrect teaching a person has previously received, or bad interpretational practices. This series will help us learn how to properly understand and interpret Scripture. If you really want to know what Scripture “actually” teaches, this study series is a must. Come join us and get in on the ground floor of these important lessons.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11 am – Tomorrow we will continue our “Saved” message series with part 6: “Is suicide a one-way ticket to hell?” Every one of us has likely known a Christian who killed themselves. What happens when a believer commits suicide? Do they still go to heaven? Does the Bible tell us? You won’t want to miss this important message that will provide biblical answers to these disturbing questions.

As always, I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher

Let me quickly say that all we really need is your prayers – which I know we have and have had. There is no need for anyone to travel 3 hours both ways to Ft. Smith, AR to attend a service for someone you did not know. I am not saying that you would be unwelcome; it simply does not make sense for many of you to caravan all the way over to AR to then turn around and travel back the same day. Just knowing that you are praying for and thinking of us is a great comfort – and all we really need.

I will be traveling to AR sometime tomorrow or Thursday to do her service on Saturday, and will then travel back to OKC afterwards to be at LifePoint on Sunday. If there is time after the business meeting, we will have our Pastor’s/BRR class. Based on questions I have received lately about cremation, I will teach a short lesson on what the Bible teaches about the proper way to deal with the remains of our loved ones. With the increased costs of funerals and the growing popularity of cremation, this is becoming a more frequently asked question. Come and hear what Scripture says about the issue we all will eventually face in one way or another.

Worship/Preaching service, 11 am – based on questions about what the Bible teaches about divine election, eternal security, Christians who commit suicide, and whether hell is eternal conscious torment or annihilation, we are presently in the message series, “Saved.” These messages attempt to answer these important questions. For the past 3 messages, we have been dealing with the issue of divine election and will begin winding down that discussion tomorrow with the message, “Does God Predestine People For Hell?” Because Calvinism has become so “in vogue” these days, many are being confused by its teachings. The question as to if God “determines” the vast majority of people for hell is critical and has a massive impact on how we read Scripture and preach/share the Gospel. If you’ve been told God “desires” that people go to hell and that He only “chooses” a minority to go to heaven, and are confused or wondering about that, you’ll definitely want to hear this message. If you have missed any of the previous 3 messages on election, they are available on our church website at lbcok.com.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher

The Executive Team is excited to share the details with you! Of course, God’s will is paramount, so as we approach this potential permanent home for our church, we want to do so with His plan in the forefront of our minds. That said, out of all the properties and facilities I have seen, this one excites me the most and appears to, with some renovations, come the closest to meeting our needs – and at a price that may be just right for us.

So tomorrow, we will have a town hall meeting at 10 am to discuss the possibilities. Remember: we do not plan to vote on anything at this meeting but simply to share the details of this property with you. Of course, we could decide tomorrow to schedule an official vote for Feb 8 to authorize the E.T. to move toward making an offer on this property. However, that will be up to you. Come hear about this exciting possibility!

Oklahoma Liberty Coalition

Do you ever feel like it is impossible to know what our legislators are doing when they are in session at our state capitol? How can we know if they are doing the bidding of “we the people” or are simply serving the establishment and special interests? Unfortunately, they have created a system over the years that makes it essentially impossible to follow what they are doing when they are in session.

Thankfully, a group of OK patriots are working on a way to remedy that situation by developing a user-friendly website that tracks state legislation and the legislators so you can actually know what some of these weasels are doing at the Capitol. This effort is being spearheaded by the Oklahoma Liberty Coalition, and what’s more, our own Sue Dyer and Connie Thayer are an active part. Thank you, ladies!

On Feb 15 at 2:00 pm, Sue and Connie will offer a training session to teach you how to use this new tool so you can guard your liberty and rights. The training will take place in room 202 on the second floor, just outside the entrance to Constitution Hall, where we take care of our children on Sundays. If you are interested, plan on being there. If you have any questions, see Sue or Connie.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10 am – Town hall meeting about a potential home for LifePoint

Worship/Preaching service, 11 am – we will continue our “Saved” message series by discussing our first subject of the series – “divine election.” Tomorrow I will be covering part 3 of this discussion entitled, “Is a forced will a free will?” Calvinism has become “in vogue” these days, and many are being confused by its teachings. I believe this has a massive negative impact on the church and on believers individually. If you want to know whether the Bible teaches that we have “libertarian/free will” or that God “enforces His will on the elect,” you’ll want to hear this message. Of course, each one of these messages is predicated on the ones previous, so if you had to miss parts 1 & 2, you can check them out on our church website at lbcok.com.

Don’t forget to pray for our struggling members

Please be praying for those in our church who are battling with physical issues. We have a good number of folks who are struggling. If you know someone who is having a tough time and can reach out to them either by text message, email, phone call, or personal visit, I know it would be a blessing to them – not to mention to yourself as well. Although we have shepherds at LifePoint who minister to their flocks, we all need to perform the work of a minister and lift up those who need a special touch. Who knows? Tomorrow, it might be you or me who is in need of care. And don’t forget, Jesus said that when we “do it to the least of these, we’re doing it to Him.” Don’t miss a chance to minister to our Lord by ministering to someone who needs your help.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher

You guys are the greatest!

If you need help, don’t hesitate to give us a shout. We have many in our church who want to serve.

I’m sure many of you are still reeling from hearing about the loss of the gift property on 33rd and S. Bryant. Although the Executive Team knew from the outset that the land had some restrictions attached, we were not prepared for the full list once we saw it on Jan 12. Somewhat shaken by the scope of the restrictions, the E.T. responded on Jan 13 with sincere questions and concerns – especially about required construction deadlines that we have no way of knowing we can satisfy right now. The donors responded to our questions/concerns by simply rescinding their offer of the land on the morning of Jan 14.

Certainly, the E.T. did not intend our questions/concerns to offend the donors or jeopardize the gift. However, in good faith, we just could not commit LifePoint to the full list of restrictions without further clarification.

Since the gift was rescinded, we have prayerfully backed up to re-evaluate God’s plan for a future location for our church. With that as a backdrop, we have begun the search again.

On Thursday, Jan 22, we toured a wonderful facility that could, with some alterations, meet the needs of our congregation – and at a doable price; at least potentially.

The E.T. would like to hold a townhall meeting this Sunday, Feb 1, during the Pastor’s/BRR Class at 10 am to share the details. We will not be voting on anything – only discussing the potential of this property. However, based on how the congregation feels, we could decide to schedule a vote for as early as Sunday, Feb 8.

Although we do not know for certain if this is the place God has for us, the E.T. is excited to share it with you this Sunday.

I hope everyone had a blessed and happy Thanksgiving. This is a great time of the year! Although it’s hard to believe, Christmas is only 4 weeks away. Next week, we’ll begin our celebration of God’s becoming “one of us” so He could die in our place. The “Incarnation” is a critical biblical doctrine, so it’s definitely something worth celebrating. To help us create a “Christmas atmosphere,” our choir has prepared beautiful Christmas songs, and we’ll be singing other wonderful congregational Christmas songs as well. December at LifePoint is going to be fantastic!

Special "thank you" to our hospitality team

Speaking of fantastic, I want to give a special thank you to Beth McDowell and our hospitality team for the incredible Thanksgiving breakfast they provided last Sunday during our fellowship time before services. They went “over and above the call of duty,” and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Beth and her team do such a great job every Sunday making us feel like we’re at home at UCO. If you get a chance, let them know how much you appreciate their hard work.

Christmas lunch on December 14

Last year, LifePoint hosted our very first Christmas lunch for our widows, widowers, and others who will not be able to celebrate Christmas with their families. It was such a huge hit, we have scheduled our next lunch for December 14 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. (Contact us for the meeting location.) LifePoint will be providing the lunch, so if you are in this category and would like to attend, please sign up tomorrow at the welcome desk in the lobby.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10:00 am – recently, several have been asking about the Book of Enoch and why Jude quotes from it in his letter in our New Testament. 1st Enoch contains some fantastic/whimsical/strange teachings like angels (called the Watchers) who intermarried with humans and produced a race of giants called the Nephilim, who helped usher in the Flood, and other stories like angelic warfare that brought sin into the world. Is the Book of Enoch legitimate, and if it is, why is it not in our Bible? Although on its surface, this may seem to be a side issue, in reality, it is an important one because it raises an even greater question about whether our Bible is complete or not. So tomorrow, we will begin exploring Enoch, why Jude felt comfortable quoting from it, and why it is not in our Bibles. This will be a very interesting and enlightening study. Come join us.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11:00 am – three weeks ago, I began a multiple-part sermon entitled, “Is socialism/communism Christian?” For numerous reasons, for a couple of Sundays, we had to pull away from that message to deal with other topics. Tomorrow, we will return to that discussion and continue the message with part 2. Given the leftward lean of our culture, this is an incredibly timely subject that every Christian needs to understand from a biblical perspective. Join us as we continue this important message.

Opportunity to serve our LifeBody ministry

Although we understand that weekday projects are difficult for many of you who have full-time jobs, our LifeBody ministry is helping Laney Holmberg (daughter of Sharon Humphries, who attends our church) move from one apartment to another on Monday morning. Laney has multiple health issues and is mostly homebound, having to use a walker or a wheelchair to be mobile. She’s been working with the Mayo Clinic since June, trying to stabilize her health enough to return to the workforce. Because of her health challenges, Laney needs to move from a second-floor apartment to one on the first floor.

So, on Monday (Dec 1) at 10:00 am, those who can help will meet to move Laney. Be aware that there is a 16-step staircase we will have to use to access Laney’s present apartment. Check your email or contact Gary Davis for the actual address.

This is a great opportunity for us to serve one of our faithful families. If enough of us can help, we should be able to complete the move fairly quickly. If you can come, please bring a two-wheel dolly if you have one, and if anyone can bring a small tool chest that might come in handy as well. Sharon Humphries will provide chili & drinks for lunch.

Annual Budget Presentation Reminder

On Dec 7, the Executive Team will present the proposed budget for 2026. Gary Davis will deliver a condensed review of the 2025 budget and then give us an update on our present financial status. Then, he will present the 2026 budget for your approval. The business meeting will begin at 10:00 am, and if the meeting doesn’t go too long, we will continue our study in the Pastor’s/BRR class afterwards. If you have questions about the budget, don’t hesitate to reach out to Gary.

LifePoint Christmas Card Exchange

Get your Christmas cards written because this year we will have a Christmas Card Exchange "mailbox" at LifePoint! This will help everyone avoid costly postage and be able to share cards with LifePoint friends. Last Sunday, we began lesson 5, “If truth cannot be known, why believe anything at all?” Tomorrow, we will continue that discussion. Come join us.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11:00 am – we will celebrate our annual Thanksgiving celebration. It’ll be great! We are all so blessed, none of us should have any difficulty finding a reason to offer up a heartfelt thank you to the Lord – Who is far better to us than we deserve. I hope you can be there.

Special needs at LifePoint

We frequently have members of our congregation who need assistance – whether financial or otherwise. Typically, because of your faithful giving, we can meet the financial needs without asking for any type of special offering. However, right now, we have a few needs that are requiring us to make significant draws from our LifeBody funds. If you feel led to give any type of special offering to help handle some of these needs, then simply designate it to our LifeBody fund. Be assured that we have gone ahead and met those needs, so regardless of the giving to LifeBody, these wonderful folks have already been ministered to by all of us.

Secondly, we have a member who needs to find a house to rent. If you have any rental property or know of a good house that is available, please let us know so we can pass along the information. Her budget is $1,500/mo or less, and she is seeking a three-bedroom house with a backyard (preferably on the edge of town). She prefers not to be in town if at all possible.

And last, we have several folks who need our prayers because of the physical challenges they are presently facing. I know they appreciate your intercession on their behalf.

Annual Budget Presentation

On Dec 7, the Executive Team will present the proposed budget for 2026.
