He was the youngest of the family, arriving 13 years after his brother Doyle. As a young child, John—known as “Carlton”—moved with his family to California, where he made many cherished memories fishing with his father and attending Los Angeles Dodgers games. The family later returned to Clarksville, Arkansas, where John attended the College of the Ozarks for nearly four years before relocating to Oklahoma City with his mother following his father’s passing.

In 1977, John met Cheryl Kimball at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma. Realizing she sang in the choir, John—gifted with a beautiful voice—moved from bass to tenor so he could sit beside her. After a few months of persistence, he asked her out. On August 14, 1977, he cooked dinner for their first date before taking her to a Helen Reddy concert. Cheryl was quickly won over—not only by his cooking, but by the fact that he cleaned the kitchen afterward. By October, John proposed, and they were married on July 1, 1978.

Together, John and Cheryl built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. They were blessed with two sons, JJ and Seth, and shared many meaningful family traditions, including annual road trips to Chicago Cubs games, Six Flags, and Texas Rangers games—always including at least one historical stop along the way. One especially memorable trip took them to Disney World. After their sons graduated from Edmond North High School and began families of their own, John and Cheryl continued to travel and enjoy life together.

John dedicated 32 years as a pressman in the press room at The Daily Oklahoman, retiring in December 2013. He also spent many years umpiring junior high and high school baseball, something he greatly enjoyed until his health prevented him from continuing. In retirement, John took pride in caring for his home in Edmond and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

John and Cheryl were faithful members of LifePoint Bible Church, where they both sang in the choir. Even just two weeks before his passing, John was at choir practice, singing with joy and enthusiasm about the Lord he loved. Today, we find comfort in knowing he is singing with the angels and rejoicing in Heaven.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Williams of the home; his sons, John Jacob “JJ” Williams (Rhonda McNatt) of Foss, Oklahoma, and Seth Williams (Shelley) of Edmond, Oklahoma; and his five grandchildren: Ryan Williams (Samantha Tiger) of Oklahoma City, Skylar Williams of Norman, and Ashley Williams, Cara Williams, and Chase Haugeto, all of Edmond. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Vest of Melbourne, Arkansas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John also lovingly considered Cheryl’s sisters, Diann Wilson of Prague, Oklahoma, and Lydia Williams of Sanford, Florida, as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, VJ Williams and Pauline Williams Eubank, and his brothers, Richard Williams and Doyle Williams.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the members of LifePoint Bible Church for their love and support over the past several months during John’s illness and hospital stays.

Visitation will be held at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK on April 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK on April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Committal Service at Gracelawn Cemetery on April 18, 2026, at 11:15 AM.

They seem to be as excited as we are about the sale and truly believe, as we do, that God is in this. The contract is being drawn up as we speak and should be available for our analysis next Friday. Assuming all goes well, we have set a tentative closing date for early July 2026. That means that we could feasibly begin construction on the auditorium in August! Rob Chynoweth tells us that if we can, and everything goes well, there is the possibility we could move in by Christmas!

We did visit with the owners about the possibility of having a viewing for everyone in the next few weeks. They are completely open to that, and we are working on a date for everyone to be able to tour the facility and see it as it presently is. You’ll need to keep in mind that once we take possession of the facility, there will be significant changes made – especially to the auditorium. The members of the E.T. will be there to explain those improvements. That said, I think you’re going to love it! We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have a date.

Special offering for the purchase of the Event Center coming soon

Assuming LifePoint will vote to purchase the Event Center on N. Eastern, and considering the approaching closing date and the need to begin construction immediately upon closing, we will need to raise a large portion of the cost of construction. Even though we have some money available to cover our down payment and a portion of the expansion of the auditorium, we will still need to raise extra money to cover the remaining portion of the construction costs.
So, please be praying about what the Lord would have you give toward this initial offering so we can complete construction as quickly as possible, thus hastening our move-in date. Other improvements/expansions beyond the auditorium are needed for the future, but completing the auditorium is critical to our being able to use the facility. Of course, if enough is given to proceed with those other improvements, we will likely want to complete those before our move-in date as well. Just understand that we can only complete the projects that funds will allow.

Once the congregation decides “officially” to purchase the property, we will announce a date for the special offering. Please spend some time praying about it.

Women’s Ministry event coming in late April

Please take note of the date change for the upcoming Women's Ministry event.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10am – we will continue our present lesson series, “Getting Scripture Right” as we complete part 4: “Let’s use Hermeneutics to solve some Scriptural dilemmas.” Come join us as we learn how to properly understand the more difficult/puzzling passages in the Bible.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11am – we will pick up our “Saved” series where we left off two weeks ago with our discussion of the nature of the eternal punishment the lost will experience. Tomorrow’s message will be part 3 of “Will the lost suffer eternal conscious torment or be annihilated in hell?” Despite Kirk Cameron’s recent embrace of “conditional immortality/annihilation” and the uproar and confusion it has caused in the Body of Christ, the Bible is not ambiguous about the eternal fate of the lost. Although “eternal conscious torment vs. annihilation” is not an essential issue for salvation, it is nonetheless an extremely important subject, and the position that one takes will greatly “color” the way they read the rest of Scripture. Thus, it is critical that we get the proper take on what Scripture teaches about the eternal punishment of the lost.

I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow,
Dan Fisher

So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life.”

I would like to thank the person who asked that very valid question about Samson (not my so-called friend who made fun of me because I could not get the Elisha story right). The question caused me to dig a little deeper and correct the record. It simply reminds me that, when handling Scripture, we need to be extremely careful with the text.

There, now I can rest easier tonight!
Dan Fisher

Here are the costs based upon a group of 35 (if we do not have 35 going, the travel cost while we’re there will increase):

Room, travel (in Plymouth & Boston), & tickets to sites $900.00 per person
Estimated food cost ……………….................................. $250.00 per person
Total cost …………..……………………………...….. $1,150.00 per person

This price does not include round-trip travel to Boston.

If enough are interested, a nonrefundable deposit of $400 will be due sometime in late March, and we will have a formal registration page available.

If you are “truly” interested, I need you to contact asap so we can know if we have a large enough group to start booking arrangements. Please email me to let me know (even if you have previously voiced an interest). I need to hear from you by no later than Mar 14. I will then send out the word whether the trip makes or not by Mar 15.

Car needed for LifeBody Ministry

As you heard last week, our LifeBody Ministry is searching for a dependable car for a family in our church. A few responded last Sunday, and we’re considering their offers. While we’re doing so, if you have a car you would like to donate or sell, or you know someone who does, please let us know asap.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10 am – I can’t say how many times I’ve heard someone say about some passage of Scripture, “Well, that’s how I interpret it.” But what if their interpretational methods are flawed and their “interpretation” is wrong? Well, tomorrow we will begin a new series, entitled “Getting Scripture Right,” that will help us deal with this problem. Unfortunately, I am constantly hearing or encountering misinterpretations of Scripture. With the advent of the internet, false teaching (nefarious or not) has reached epidemic proportions today. This is incredibly problematic since an incorrect understanding of one passage of Scripture or what Scripture teaches about a particular subject can greatly impact the way we read the rest of the Bible. An incorrect understanding of Scripture will then eventually damage our faith walk. I’m convinced that much of the time, these “incorrect interpretations” are unintentional and are the result of either a poor understanding of the Bible, incorrect teaching a person has previously received, or bad interpretational practices. This series will help us learn how to properly understand and interpret Scripture. If you really want to know what Scripture “actually” teaches, this study series is a must. Come join us and get in on the ground floor of these important lessons.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11 am – Tomorrow we will continue our “Saved” message series with part 6: “Is suicide a one-way ticket to hell?” Every one of us has likely known a Christian who killed themselves. What happens when a believer commits suicide? Do they still go to heaven? Does the Bible tell us? You won’t want to miss this important message that will provide biblical answers to these disturbing questions.

As always, I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher

I am so happy to report to you that yesterday was her last bad day. From here on out, she is free! Thank you, Jesus for making a way for us beyond this vale of tears.

I know some of you are probably wondering if you need to travel to Arkansas to attend her memorial service out of respect and support for me. Let me quickly say that all we really need is your prayers – which I know we have and have had. There is no need for anyone to travel 3 hours both ways to Ft. Smith, AR to attend a service for someone you did not know. I am not saying that you would be unwelcome; it simply does not make sense for many of you to caravan all the way over to AR to then turn around and travel back the same day. Just knowing that you are praying for and thinking of us is a great comfort – and all we really need.

I will be traveling to AR sometime tomorrow or Thursday to do her service on Saturday, and will then travel back to OKC afterwards to be at LifePoint on Sunday. For the past 3 messages, we have been dealing with the issue of divine election and will begin winding down that discussion tomorrow with the message, “Does God Predestine People For Hell?” Because Calvinism has become so “in vogue” these days, many are being confused by its teachings. The question as to if God “determines” the vast majority of people for hell is critical and has a massive impact on how we read Scripture and preach/share the Gospel. If you’ve been told God “desires” that people go to hell and that He only “chooses” a minority to go to heaven, and are confused or wondering about that, you’ll definitely want to hear this message. Of course, God’s will is paramount, so as we approach this potential permanent home for our church, we want to do so with His plan in the forefront of our minds. Remember: we do not plan to vote on anything at this meeting but simply to share the details of this property with you. Of course, we could decide tomorrow to schedule an official vote for Feb 8 to authorize the E.T. to move toward making an offer on this property. However, that will be up to you. Come hear about this exciting possibility!

Oklahoma Liberty Coalition

Do you ever feel like it is impossible to know what our legislators are doing when they are in session at our state capitol? How can we know if they are doing the bidding of “we the people” or are simply serving the establishment and special interests? Unfortunately, they have created a system over the years that makes it essentially impossible to follow what they are doing when they are in session.

Thankfully, a group of OK patriots are working on a way to remedy that situation by developing a user-friendly website that tracks state legislation and the legislators so you can actually know what some of these weasels are doing at the Capitol. This effort is being spearheaded by the Oklahoma Liberty Coalition, and what’s more, our own Sue Dyer and Connie Thayer are an active part. Thank you, ladies!

On Feb 15 at 2:00 pm, Sue and Connie will offer a training session to teach you how to use this new tool so you can guard your liberty and rights. The training will take place in room 202 on the second floor, just outside the entrance to Constitution Hall, where we take care of our children on Sundays. If you are interested, plan on being there. If you have any questions, see Sue or Connie.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10 am – Town hall meeting about a potential home for LifePoint

Worship/Preaching service, 11 am – we will continue our “Saved” message series by discussing our first subject of the series – “divine election.” Tomorrow I will be covering part 3 of this discussion entitled, “Is a forced will a free will?” Calvinism has become “in vogue” these days, and many are being confused by its teachings. I believe this has a massive negative impact on the church and on believers individually. If you want to know whether the Bible teaches that we have “libertarian/free will” or that God “enforces His will on the elect,” you’ll want to hear this message. Of course, each one of these messages is predicated on the ones previous, so if you had to miss parts 1 & 2, you can check them out on our church website at lbcok.com.

Don’t forget to pray for our struggling members

Please be praying for those in our church who are battling with physical issues. We have a good number of folks who are struggling. If you know someone who is having a tough time and can reach out to them either by text message, email, phone call, or personal visit, I know it would be a blessing to them – not to mention to yourself as well. Although we have shepherds at LifePoint who minister to their flocks, we all need to perform the work of a minister and lift up those who need a special touch. Who knows? Tomorrow, it might be you or me who is in need of care. And don’t forget, Jesus said that when we “do it to the least of these, we’re doing it to Him.” Don’t miss a chance to minister to our Lord by ministering to someone who needs your help.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher

You guys are the greatest!

If you need help, don’t hesitate to give us a shout. We have many in our church who want to serve.

I’m sure many of you are still reeling from hearing about the loss of the gift property on 33rd and S. Bryant. Although the Executive Team knew from the outset that the land had some restrictions attached, we were not prepared for the full list once we saw it on Jan 12. Somewhat shaken by the scope of the restrictions, the E.T. responded on Jan 13 with sincere questions and concerns – especially about required construction deadlines that we have no way of knowing we can satisfy right now. The donors responded to our questions/concerns by simply rescinding their offer of the land on the morning of Jan 14.

Certainly, the E.T. did not intend our questions/concerns to offend the donors or jeopardize the gift. However, in good faith, we just could not commit LifePoint to the full list of restrictions without further clarification.

Since the gift was rescinded, we have prayerfully backed up to re-evaluate God’s plan for a future location for our church. With that as a backdrop, we have begun the search again.

On Thursday, Jan 22, we toured a wonderful facility that could, with some alterations, meet the needs of our congregation – and at a doable price; at least potentially.

The E.T. would like to hold a townhall meeting this Sunday, Feb 1, during the Pastor’s/BRR Class at 10 am to share the details. We will not be voting on anything – only discussing the potential of this property. However, based on how the congregation feels, we could decide to schedule a vote for as early as Sunday, Feb 8.

Although we do not know for certain if this is the place God has for us, the E.T. is excited to share it with you this Sunday. The great amount of work he put into the 2026 budget was both evident and perfectly aligned our assets for the coming year in a way that optimizes our ministry priorities and honors the Lord. His review of 2025 also helped us get a good picture of where we are at the end of this year. Thank you, Gary. Your work is vital to the health of our church.

Along those lines, I also want to thank all of you, the LifePoint congregation, for your agreeable and trusting spirit. You are incredible to work with, and you make taking care of the “fiscal business” of the church a blessing rather than a burden.

If any of you want greater details about the budget or have any questions along the way, please do not hesitate to ask any of the members of the Executive Team. However, Gary is likely the best of us to direct your budget/financial questions to. He will be happy to help answer any questions you have.

Annual Christmas luncheon

Tomorrow, Dec 14, we will host our second annual Christmas luncheon for our 70+ aged widows, widowers, and senior couples who may not be able to celebrate Christmas with their families this year. Pam and I are looking forward to being with you and celebrating the Christmas season with you.

If you are not 70+ years old, but are single, a widow, a widower, or a couple who will not be able to celebrate Christmas with your family, we would still love to have you join us. Please let us know you are coming. It is important we get a headcount for this event. For your convenience, you can sign up at the welcome desk on Sunday.

The luncheon will be from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Location to be announced Sunday morning at church. If you have any questions, please email Val. See you there.

Update on the land

Very soon, we will be meeting with Victoria Hyde, a designing architect, to hopefully begin a process of her navigating us through the design of a site plan, securing the “special use” permit from Edmond, plans for a future structure, securing the “building” permit from Edmond, and the eventual deeding of the property (on 33rd and S. Bryant streets) to LifePoint.

Unfortunately, this process is moving quite slowly, and we have no idea how long it will be until our church officially owns the property. We will certainly keep you posted when there is a significant development. In the meantime, let’s be praying that God goes before us to guide us into His perfect will. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or any of the members of the E.T.

Tomorrow at LifePoint

Pastor’s/BRR Class, 10:00 am – we will continue our intriguing study of the Book of Enoch and keep moving closer to the answer of the ultimate question: “Why is the Book of Enoch not included in our Bible?” Come join us in this interesting study.

Worship/Preaching Service, 11:00 am – last week we got off to a good start in our 2025 Christmas celebration. We began the message series: “Incarnate.” If you missed part 1, you can listen by going to our website at Lbcok.com (see links below). Tomorrow, we will continue this important doctrinal discussion of what it really means for Jesus to have “become flesh and ‘tabernacled’ among us” with part 2. Come celebrate Christmas with us and enjoy the food and fellowship before the services.

One last special thank you

I want to give out another special thank you. This time, I want to thank our welcome teams for always being faithful to offer a special welcome to all of us in the parking lot and the doors of the Nigh Bldg. Additionally, we are incredibly thankful for the hospitality team and their hard work to provide delicious breakfast treats for us every Sunday. To all of you, God bless you for your wonderful service. You make LifePoint a better place.

As always, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Dan Fisher
